Hi, I'm Michelle. I play field hockey and rollerblade, and I also play lots of other sports. I spend most of my free time listening to all different types of music and using the computer. The purpose of this web site is to let me publish the work I do in my English class, and for anyone to be able to read it. There are links to web pages I made showing all of the work I have done so far in my high school English class. I made web pages featuring many of the pieces I have written in English, and some things that I have written on my own.
This year, English is my favorite class of the day. In my class there are only fourteen students, so it is very relaxed and we are all good friends. We are also able to get through lessons very quickly because of the small class. I expect that during this year, we will all work very hard and learn a lot. From the beginning, we knew that this would probably be our most difficult class, but we are all willing to put in a lot of effort. Over the course of the year, I hope to learn useful skills that will help me for the rest of my life. Reading very fast but still picking up on all the details is one skill that I would like to acquire. I can either read fast and not obtain many details, or read slow and be very open to detail.
This year, we will be reading many various novels and plays. The Catcher In The Rye, The Hobbit, David Copperfield, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, My Name Is Asher Lev, The Crucible, Of Mice And Men, Julius Caesar, West With The Night, Oedipus Rex, My Name Is Asher Lev, The Gift of Asher Lev, and Medea will all be read and analyzed. Throughout each book, all of the students take notes and make four to seven notecards. The notecards are used to prompt small group discussions that we have every Friday on the book we are reading at the time. After reading each book, writing pieces will be done relating to the book's theme. This year, we will mostly be concentrating on reading and writing.
